Oregon nursing renewal changed on January 1, 2026
Oregon removed practice-hour requirements from RN, LPN and APRN renewal competency. During 2026 and 2027, renewal focuses on current pain-management and cultural-competency education.
Do not use old practice-hour advice. As of January 1, 2026, Oregon no longer uses practice hours to demonstrate competency for ordinary RN, LPN or APRN renewal.
RN, LPN and APRN renewal
Complete one hour of pain-management education within 36 months and two hours of cultural-competency education within 48 months.
Expanded requirements come later
Beginning January 1, 2028, LPNs and RNs will need 20 hours of CE. APRNs will need current national certification or 75 role-related CE hours.
