Choose the correct Utah practice and CE pathway
Utah allows three main RN/LPN renewal pathways. The work or education must have been completed during the two years before renewal.
Practice-only pathway
Complete at least 400 hours of licensed nursing practice during the previous two years.
Combined practice and CE
Complete at least 200 licensed-practice hours plus 15 approved CE hours.
Education-only pathway
Complete at least 30 approved continuing-education hours during the two-year period.
The approved suicide-prevention training is required in addition to choosing the appropriate practice/CE pathway, although the selected module also qualifies for CE credit.

DOPL’s public page does not require every nurse to upload all certificates with every renewal. Keep complete records and follow any audit or document request shown during the transaction.

A nurse normally holds the multistate license through the primary state of residence rather than obtaining another multistate home-state license from Utah.

The Nurse Licensure Compact applies to eligible RN and LPN licenses. It does not independently create APRN or controlled-substance authority.

APRN and CRNA licenses renew on January 31 of even years. The professional license, specialty certification and controlled-substance license must be checked separately.
